Echinacea Pollynation Mix

Echinacea Pollynation Mix is a hardy perennial offering a vibrant mix of daisy-like flowers in rich purples, pinks, oranges, and yellows. Each flower features a prominent cone that draws in bees, butterflies, and other pollinators from midsummer through to early autumn. With strong, upright stems and a long flowering season, it brings lasting movement and colour to garden spaces.

Ideal for perennial borders, pollinator-friendly areas, and prairie-style plantings, this mix thrives in full sun and well-drained soil with moderate to low moisture. Drought-tolerant once established, it suits low-maintenance gardens. Space plants 40 to 50 cm apart for healthy air flow and clump formation. Mature plants reach 60 to 80 cm in height and spread.

Trimming: Cut back old stems to ground level in late autumn or early spring to refresh the plant and support new season growth. Leaving seed heads over winter can add structure and attract birds.

Deadheading: Regular deadheading encourages extended flowering and keeps the plant tidy, though leaving a few flower heads to go to seed can benefit local pollinators and wildlife.

Fertilising: Apply a general-purpose, slow-release fertiliser in early spring. Avoid excessive feeding, as echinacea thrives in moderately fertile soils.

Watering: Water regularly during the establishment period and in extended dry spells. Once established, echinacea is relatively drought-tolerant but still benefits from occasional deep watering in hot weather.

Pest Control: Generally pest-resistant, though aphids or caterpillars may appear occasionally. Treat with insecticidal soap or remove manually if infestations are light.

Disease Management: Watch for signs of powdery mildew—white, dusty patches on leaves—especially in humid conditions. Improve airflow, avoid overhead watering, and treat with a suitable fungicide if needed. Root rot can occur in poorly drained soil; ensure good drainage to prevent this.
