Echinacea Green Twister

Flowers from mid-summer to early Autumn with a dramatic presence. It adds an exotic, modern touch to garden borders and is a favourite with pollinators.
Perfect for prairie-style gardens, mixed borders, or wildlife-friendly schemes, its unusual colouring makes it ideal for mass plantings or bold arrangements. It thrives in full sun with well-drained soil, tolerates drought, and is resilient once established.
Space plants 40–50 cm apart to accommodate its upright, clumping habit. Reaching 80–100 cm tall, it forms a robust clump.
Trimming: Cut back stems to ground level in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh growth. Remove damaged or dead foliage as needed.
Deadheading: Regularly remove spent flowers to extend the flowering period. Alternatively, leave some seed heads for winter interest and to attract birds.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring to support growth and flowering. Avoid excessive fertiliser, as this can reduce flower production.
Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase and in prolonged dry periods. Echinacea is drought-tolerant once established but prefers consistent moisture in well-drained soil.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free but occasionally affected by aphids or Japanese beetles; remove pests manually or use insecticidal soap.
Disease Management: Watch for powdery mildew and aster yellows. Remove affected parts promptly and ensure good air circulation. Treat powdery mildew with a fungicide if necessary.
