Dianthus Pink Eclipse
Notify MeDianthus Pink Eclipse is a compact, evergreen perennial featuring striking bi-coloured flowers with deep pink centres and pale pink edges. Flowering from late Spring through to early Autumn, it adds vibrant colour and a sweet fragrance to garden beds, borders, and containers. The neat, mounding habit and continuous flowering make it a standout in both formal and informal plantings.
Ideal for cottage, rock, or contemporary gardens, Dianthus Pink Eclipse works beautifully in edging, mass planting, or patio pots. It thrives in full sun with free-draining soil and benefits from regular deadheading to encourage continued flowering. Space approximately 25-30 cm apart for best results.
Forms a tidy, mounded plant approximately 25 cm high and 30 cm wide.
Trimming: Lightly trim after each flowering flush to maintain a compact shape and encourage repeat flowering. Remove any untidy or damaged foliage as needed.
Deadheading: Regularly deadhead spent flowers to prolong the flowering season and keep the plant tidy.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring. A light liquid feed during peak flowering can support continued blooming.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, water during extended dry periods, particularly in warmer months. Avoid overwatering and ensure soil is free-draining.
Pest Control: Watch for aphids and thrips on new growth or buds-treat with insecticidal soap if necessary. Slugs may also be an issue in damp conditions.
Disease Management: Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues such as rust or mildew. Avoid overhead watering and remove any diseased foliage promptly. Ensure soil drainage is excellent to prevent crown rot.
