Canna Cannova Rose

Canna Cannova Rose is a compact, tropical-looking perennial featuring soft rose-pink flowers held above broad, lush green foliage. Flowering from late spring through to autumn, it brings continuous colour and a warm, exotic feel to borders, large pots, and subtropical plantings. With an upright habit reaching around 80-100 cm high and 40-60 cm wide, it suits cottage, contemporary, and tropical garden styles.

Plant in full sun with rich, well-draining soil kept consistently moist during the growing season. Space plants 40-50 cm apart for balanced growth and airflow. Remove spent flower stems to encourage ongoing flowering. In cooler areas, protect from frost or lift and store rhizomes in winter. Mulch well to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Trimming: Remove spent flower stalks down to the base to encourage new blooms. At the end of the season-after the first frost or once the plant begins to die back-cut all stems back to just above ground level.

Deadheading: Regularly deadhead faded flowers to extend the flowering period and maintain a tidy appearance.

Fertilising: Feed every 2-3 weeks during the growing season with a balanced or high-potassium liquid fertiliser (e.g. tomato feed) to support strong flowering and healthy foliage.

Watering: Keep soil consistently moist, especially during warm, dry periods. Canna ‘Cannova Rose’ thrives in well-drained but moisture-retentive soil. Water more frequently if grown in containers.

Pest Control: Monitor for aphids, spider mites, and caterpillars, particularly on young foliage. Treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil if needed.

Disease Management: Provide good air circulation to minimise fungal issues such as rust or leaf spot. Avoid overhead watering and remove any affected leaves promptly. Ensure the soil drains well to prevent rhizome rot.
