Calibrachoa Superbells Blue
Notify MeCalibrachoa Superbells Blue is a compact, trailing annual producing masses of vibrant blue-purple, petunia-like flowers from spring through to late autumn. Ideal for hanging baskets, containers, and the front of sunny borders, it offers long-lasting colour with minimal care.
Plant in full sun with free-draining soil. Water regularly and feed fortnightly during the growing season to support continuous flowering. No deadheading required. Space plants 30 to 40 centimetres apart for groundcover or trailing displays.
Grows to around 20 centimetres tall and trails or spreads up to 60 centimetres wide.
Trimming: Lightly trim back stems during the growing season to encourage a fuller shape and fresh growth. A mid-season tidy-up can help extend flowering.
Deadheading: Not required, as this variety is self-cleaning. You can remove occasional spent flowers to keep the plant looking neat.
Fertilising: Use a slow-release fertiliser at planting. Supplement with a high-potassium liquid feed every one to two weeks during the flowering season to support continuous flowering.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment and in dry periods. Keep soil evenly moist but ensure it drains well to prevent root rot. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely.
Pest Control: Monitor for aphids, thrips, and whiteflies on soft new growth. Treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil if infestations occur.
Disease Management: Ensure good airflow and avoid overhead watering to reduce the risk of fungal issues such as powdery mildew. Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves promptly and use free-draining soil to prevent root diseases.
