Notify MeBrachyscome Misty Mauve is a soft, mounding perennial known for its finely divided foliage and a profusion of delicate mauve daisy-like flowers with yellow centres. Flowering continuously from early Spring through to late Autumn, it adds a gentle wash of colour and attracts bees and butterflies to the garden.
Perfect for borders, containers, hanging baskets, and rockeries, it complements cottage, informal, and pollinator-friendly garden styles.
Plant in full sun to light shade in well-draining soil. Keep soil moderately moist and trim back lightly to encourage further flowering and maintain shape. Space plants 30–40cm apart for lush, even growth.
Mature size: Neat and spreading, typically reaching 20–30cm tall and 40–50cm wide.
Trimming: Lightly trim after flowering to maintain a tidy, compact shape and encourage a continual flush of blooms. Pinch back leggy stems regularly to promote a bushier habit. A moderate prune in early spring helps rejuvenate older plants.
Deadheading: Regularly remove spent flowers to extend the flowering period and keep the plant looking fresh.
Fertilising: Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser. For container-grown plants or those in poor soils, apply a diluted liquid feed every 4–6 weeks throughout the flowering season. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilisers, which may reduce flowering.
Watering: Water consistently during dry periods and while establishing. Misty Mauve prefers moist, well-drained soil—avoid waterlogging. A light organic mulch can help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Pest Control: Usually pest-free, though occasional aphids or spider mites may appear. Treat early with insecticidal soap if necessary.
Disease Management: Ensure good airflow and well-draining soil to prevent fungal problems such as powdery mildew. Avoid overhead watering and remove any yellowing or diseased foliage promptly.
