Notify MeBrachyscome brasco Candy is a compact, flowering perennial prized for its soft fern-like foliage and profusion of bright pink daisy-like flowers with yellow centres. Flowering continuously from Spring through to Autumn, this low-maintenance plant adds cheerful colour and fine texture to garden beds and containers.
Ideal for borders, rockeries, hanging baskets, and cottage-style plantings, it also suits contemporary and pollinator-friendly garden designs.
Plant in full sun to light shade in well-draining soil. Water regularly during dry spells and trim lightly to encourage repeat flowering. Space plants 30–40cm apart for even, low coverage.
Mature size: Compact and mounding, growing to around 20–30cm tall and 40–50cm wide.
Trimming: Lightly trim after flowering to maintain a tidy, compact shape and encourage continual blooming. Regular light pruning or pinching back helps prevent legginess and promotes bushier growth. A harder prune in early spring can rejuvenate older plants.
Deadheading: Regularly remove spent flower heads to encourage prolonged flowering and maintain a neat appearance.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring. In pots or poor soils, supplement with a liquid feed every 4–6 weeks during the flowering season. Avoid excessive fertiliser, which can lead to more foliage than flowers.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist during establishment and dry periods, but ensure good drainage to avoid waterlogging. Mulch lightly to retain moisture, particularly in hot or exposed areas.
Pest Control: Generally pest-resistant. Occasionally, aphids or spider mites may target soft growth—treat early with insecticidal soap if necessary.
Disease Management: Avoid overhead watering to reduce the risk of fungal diseases. If leaf spots or mildew appear, remove affected foliage and improve airflow through light pruning and proper spacing. Ensure free-draining soil to prevent root rot.
