Bidens Mini Bee
Notify MeBidens Mini Bee is a compact, free-flowering perennial known for its masses of small, golden-yellow daisy-like flowers that bloom continuously from spring through to autumn. Its tidy, mounding habit and fine green foliage make it perfect for edging, hanging baskets, containers, or brightening up borders. Reaching around 20-25 cm high and spreading 30-40 cm wide, it suits cottage, contemporary, and low-maintenance garden styles.
Thrives in full sun with free-draining soil. Space plants 25-30 cm apart to allow for healthy spread and airflow. Drought-tolerant once established and requires minimal care-light trimming will encourage ongoing flowering. Excellent for adding long-lasting colour to sunny spots.
Trimming: Lightly trim back after the first flush of flowers to maintain a compact, tidy shape and encourage continued blooming. Cut back at the end of the growing season or remove if grown as an annual.
Deadheading: Regularly deadhead spent flowers to prolong the flowering period and keep the plant looking fresh.
Fertilising: Feed every 2-3 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser to support vigorous growth and sustained flowering, especially in containers or nutrient-poor soils.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment and in dry conditions. Once established, Bidens ‘Mini Bee’ is fairly drought-tolerant but flowers best with consistent moisture in free-draining soil.
Pest Control: Generally pest-resistant. However, check for aphids and whiteflies, particularly in warm weather. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil if needed.
Disease Management: Avoid overwatering and ensure good drainage to prevent root rot. Provide adequate spacing for airflow to reduce the risk of fungal issues. Remove any damaged or diseased foliage promptly.
