Bacopa White
Notify MeBacopa monnieri White is a classic trailing perennial known for its masses of crisp white flowers that appear continuously from late spring to early autumn. Performs best in full sun to part shade in moist, well-drained soil. Keep soil consistently damp to encourage prolonged flowering. Space plants approximately 30 cm apart to allow for trailing spread.
Mature size: Reaches 10–15 cm high and spreads up to 60 cm wide.
Trimming: Trim lightly throughout the growing season to encourage bushiness and prevent legginess. This is especially useful in containers and hanging baskets where shape is important.
Deadheading: Most Bacopa varieties are self-cleaning, but removing spent flowers can enhance overall tidiness and may prolong flowering during cooler periods.
Fertilising: Feed fortnightly during the flowering season (spring to early autumn) with a balanced liquid fertiliser to support lush growth and continuous flowering.
Watering: Bacopa prefers consistently moist soil—avoid letting it dry out. This is particularly important during the establishment phase and in containers, which can dry quickly in warm weather.
Pest Control: Generally resistant to pests, but keep an eye out for aphids and whiteflies. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil if infestations occur.
Disease Management: Susceptible to powdery mildew and root rot if overwatered or poorly ventilated. Ensure good air circulation, avoid overhead watering, and remove any affected foliage. Treat with a fungicide if necessary.
