Notify MeBacopa cordata Snowstorm Blue is a vigorous, trailing perennial prized for its profusion of small, sky-blue flowers that appear from late spring through to early autumn. With a spreading, cascading habit and fresh green foliage, it creates a soft, airy effect perfect for hanging baskets, container plantings, and edging garden beds.
An excellent choice for cottage, tropical, and coastal gardens, this variety brings long-lasting seasonal colour and pairs well with both bold and delicate companion plants.
Thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. Maintain consistent watering through warmer months to encourage abundant flowering. Plant approximately 30 cm apart to allow room for healthy trailing growth.
Mature size: Grows 10–15 cm high with a trailing spread of up to 60 cm.
Trimming: Trim lightly throughout the growing season to encourage bushiness and prevent legginess. This is especially useful in containers and hanging baskets where shape is important.
Deadheading: Most Bacopa varieties are self-cleaning, but removing spent flowers can enhance overall tidiness and may prolong flowering during cooler periods.
Fertilising: Feed fortnightly during the flowering season (spring to early autumn) with a balanced liquid fertiliser to support lush growth and continuous flowering.
Watering: Bacopa prefers consistently moist soil—avoid letting it dry out. This is particularly important during the establishment phase and in containers, which can dry quickly in warm weather.
Pest Control: Generally resistant to pests, but keep an eye out for aphids and whiteflies. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil if infestations occur.
Disease Management: Susceptible to powdery mildew and root rot if overwatered or poorly ventilated. Ensure good air circulation, avoid overhead watering, and remove any affected foliage. Treat with a fungicide if necessary.
