Bacopa Scopia Double White

Bacopa cordata Scopia Double White is a compact, trailing perennial celebrated for its abundant double white flowers that add a soft, layered texture to garden displays. Flowering continuously from late spring to early autumn, this variety offers a clean, fresh aesthetic that pairs beautifully with both bold and pastel colour schemes. Its cascading growth habit makes it perfect for hanging baskets, containers, and border edges.

A great fit for cottage, coastal, and modern gardens, it also performs well in mixed container plantings where contrast and trailing form are desired.

Prefers full sun to part shade and thrives in moist, well-drained soil. Regular watering is essential during dry periods to ensure prolific flowering. Space plants around 30 cm apart for optimal spread and coverage.

Mature size: Grows 10–15 cm high and spreads up to 60 cm wide in a trailing form.

Trimming: Trim lightly throughout the growing season to encourage bushiness and prevent legginess. This is especially useful in containers and hanging baskets where shape is important.

Deadheading: Most Bacopa varieties are self-cleaning, but removing spent flowers can enhance overall tidiness and may prolong flowering during cooler periods.

Fertilising: Feed fortnightly during the flowering season (spring to early autumn) with a balanced liquid fertiliser to support lush growth and continuous flowering.

Watering: Bacopa prefers consistently moist soil—avoid letting it dry out. This is particularly important during the establishment phase and in containers, which can dry quickly in warm weather.

Pest Control: Generally resistant to pests, but keep an eye out for aphids and whiteflies. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil if infestations occur.

Disease Management: Susceptible to powdery mildew and root rot if overwatered or poorly ventilated. Ensure good air circulation, avoid overhead watering, and remove any affected foliage. Treat with a fungicide if necessary.
