Bacopa Gulliver White
Bacopa monnieri Gulliver White is a vigorous, trailing perennial admired for its oversized pure white flowers that appear in abundance from late spring through to early autumn. The crisp white flowers contrast beautifully with the vibrant green foliage, offering a clean, fresh look in hanging baskets, pots, and as a soft edging plant in garden beds.
Ideal for cottage, coastal, and modern gardens, it also adds brightness to shaded corners and pairs well in mixed container displays. Its trailing habit makes it especially effective for softening edges and cascading over walls or containers.
Best grown in full sun to partial shade, in moist but well-drained soil. Regular watering is essential during dry periods to encourage ongoing flowering. Allow 30 cm spacing for healthy spread and airflow.
Mature size: Grows to 10–15 cm high with a trailing spread of up to 60 cm.
Trimming: Trim lightly throughout the growing season to encourage bushiness and prevent legginess. This is especially useful in containers and hanging baskets where shape is important.
Deadheading: Most Bacopa varieties are self-cleaning, but removing spent flowers can enhance overall tidiness and may prolong flowering during cooler periods.
Fertilising: Feed fortnightly during the flowering season (spring to early autumn) with a balanced liquid fertiliser to support lush growth and continuous flowering.
Watering: Bacopa prefers consistently moist soil—avoid letting it dry out. This is particularly important during the establishment phase and in containers, which can dry quickly in warm weather.
Pest Control: Generally resistant to pests, but keep an eye out for aphids and whiteflies. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil if infestations occur.
Disease Management: Susceptible to powdery mildew and root rot if overwatered or poorly ventilated. Ensure good air circulation, avoid overhead watering, and remove any affected foliage. Treat with a fungicide if necessary.
