Armeria Red

A compact, low-growing perennial, Armeria Red produces vivid crimson-pink, globe-shaped flowers that rise above neat clumps of slender, grass-like foliage. Flowering from early Spring through to late Summer, this hardy variety is ideal for adding vibrant colour and texture to borders, coastal gardens, and rockeries. It also works well as a ground cover or edging plant, especially in areas with poor, sandy soils.
Perfect for coastal, rock, cottage, and informal gardens. Its tidy habit and prolonged flowering season make it suitable for front-of-border planting and gravel garden designs.

Thrives in full sun with well-drained soil. Tolerates dry, exposed sites once established. Space plants approximately 20–30 cm apart to allow for airflow and growth.

Forms a compact mound reaching up to 20 cm tall and 30 cm wide.

Trimming: Lightly trim back spent flower stems after flowering to maintain a tidy shape and encourage fresh growth. In late autumn or early spring, remove any dead or untidy foliage to refresh the plant.

Deadheading: Regularly remove faded flower heads throughout the flowering season to prolong display and prevent excessive self-seeding.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in early spring. Avoid overfeeding, as this plant thrives in poorer soils and excessive nutrients may reduce flowering.

Watering: Water regularly during establishment and in extended dry spells, especially in sandy or fast-draining soils. Once established, it is drought tolerant.

Pest Control: Generally pest-resistant, though occasional aphid infestations may occur. Treat with a strong spray of water or an insecticidal soap if needed.

Disease Management: Armeria is low-maintenance but may suffer from root rot in poorly drained soil. Ensure excellent drainage and remove affected plants promptly to prevent spread.
