Argyranthemum Pompom
Notify MeArgyranthemum Pompom features distinctive double pink, pompom-like flowers that sit atop bushy green foliage, creating a playful and eye-catching display. Flowering from spring through to late autumn, it brings reliable, long-lasting colour to borders, containers, and garden beds. Best grown in full sun with well-drained soil and moderate moisture. A great choice for cottage, coastal, and Mediterranean gardens. Allow 30–40cm between plants to support healthy growth and airflow. Deadheading will encourage continued flowering.
Mature Size: Forms a rounded shape reaching approximately 40cm high and 50cm wide.
Trimming: Lightly trim after each flowering cycle to maintain a compact, rounded form and encourage fresh growth. Perform a harder prune in late winter or early spring to shape and rejuvenate the plant.
Deadheading: Regularly remove faded flowers to extend the flowering period and keep the plant neat.
Fertilising: Use a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring, supplemented with liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during active growth to support prolific flowering.
Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during establishment. Once established, water deeply during extended dry periods, allowing the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings.
Pest Control: Look out for aphids and whiteflies, particularly in warm weather. Treat infestations promptly with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
Disease Management: Susceptible to powdery mildew in humid conditions—promote airflow and avoid overhead watering. Root rot may occur in poorly drained soils, so ensure good drainage and avoid excessive watering. Use appropriate fungicides if signs of fungal disease appear.
