Argyranthemum Burgundy
Notify MeArgyranthemum Burgundy is a vibrant, compact marguerite daisy that produces an abundance of deep burgundy-red flowers with golden-yellow centres, creating striking contrast throughout the flowering season from spring to autumn. Its finely divided green foliage forms a tidy mound, making it a bold choice for adding depth and colour to garden displays.
Ideal for sunny borders, patio containers, and mixed beds. Complements Mediterranean, cottage, and contemporary garden styles.
Prefers full sun and well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Deadhead regularly to promote continuous flowering and maintain a neat appearance. Space plants 30–40 cm apart for dense, colourful coverage.
Mature size: Grows to 30–40 cm tall with a compact, bushy spread of up to 40–50 cm.
Trimming: Lightly trim after each flush of flowering to maintain a compact, tidy shape and encourage repeat blooming. Prune back more firmly in late winter or early spring to promote fresh, vigorous growth.
Deadheading: Regularly remove spent blooms to prolong flowering and keep the plant looking fresh.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring. For sustained flowering, supplement with a liquid feed every 2–4 weeks during the blooming season.
Watering: Water consistently during dry periods. Although Argyranthemum ‘Burgundy’ is moderately drought-tolerant once established, it produces more flowers with regular watering. Ensure free-draining soil to avoid root rot.
Pest Control: Monitor for aphids and whitefly, especially on new growth. Treat with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil if infestations occur.
Disease Management: Can be susceptible to powdery mildew in humid or congested conditions. Improve airflow, avoid overhead watering, and remove any affected foliage. Apply a fungicide if necessary.
