Notify MeArgyranthemum Bordeaux is a striking marguerite daisy known for its rich, deep pink to burgundy-red flowers with a golden-yellow centre. Flowering continuously from spring through to autumn, the vibrant blooms stand out beautifully against the finely cut, dark green foliage. Thrives in full sun and well-drained, fertile soil. Deadhead regularly to encourage ongoing flowering. Space plants 30–40 cm apart for a bright, compact display.
Mature size: Reaches 30–40 cm tall with a rounded spread of 40–50 cm.
Trimming: Trim lightly after each wave of flowering to maintain a neat, rounded shape and encourage continuous blooming. In late winter or early spring, prune back more firmly to rejuvenate the plant.
Deadheading: Regular deadheading of spent flowers will extend the flowering period and keep the plant tidy.
Fertilising: Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring. For best results, apply a liquid fertiliser every 2–4 weeks during the peak flowering season.
Watering: Water regularly, especially during hot or dry weather. While moderately drought-tolerant once established, Argyranthemum ‘Bordeaux’ flowers more freely with consistent moisture. Always ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Pest Control: Watch for aphids and whitefly on young growth. Treat with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil if needed.
Disease Management: Prone to powdery mildew in humid or overcrowded conditions. Improve air circulation, avoid overhead watering, and remove any affected leaves promptly. Apply a fungicide if mildew persists.
