Notify MeAlstroemeria White Buttons is a compact, free-flowering perennial featuring pure white flowers with soft yellow throats and delicate, fine markings. Flowering from late spring through to early autumn, it adds a fresh, clean accent to borders, containers, and floral arrangements. Growing to approximately 30-40 cm high and wide, its neat, clump-forming habit suits cottage, subtropical, and contemporary garden styles.
Plant in full sun to partial shade with well-draining, moderately moist soil. Space plants 30-40 cm apart to support airflow and healthy growth. Apply mulch annually to conserve moisture and protect roots during cooler months. Regular deadheading encourages a prolonged flowering season.
Trimming: Remove spent flowering stems by pulling or cutting them at the base to stimulate continuous blooming and tidy growth. In late autumn or winter, cut back any yellowing or dead foliage to just above ground level.
Deadheading: Deadhead regularly throughout the flowering season to encourage repeat flowering and prevent the plant from putting energy into seed production.
Fertilising: Feed every 2-3 weeks during active growth with a high-potassium liquid fertiliser (such as tomato feed) to support prolific flowering.
Watering: Water consistently during establishment and dry spells, particularly in summer. Keep soil moist but well-drained-avoid both waterlogging and complete drying out.
Pest Control: Monitor for slugs and snails around young shoots. Aphids may also appear on new growth-treat early with insecticidal soap or neem oil if needed.
