Flowering from late spring to early autumn, it’s ideal for brightening borders, containers, and floral arrangements. With a tidy growth habit reaching approximately 40-60 cm high and wide, it complements cottage, subtropical, and modern garden styles.
Best planted in full sun to partial shade in well-draining, moderately moist soil. Allow 30-40 cm between plants to support healthy clump formation and airflow. Apply mulch annually to conserve moisture and protect roots through the cooler months.
Trimming: Remove spent flowering stems by pulling or cutting them at the base to stimulate new growth. In late autumn or winter, trim back old or yellowing foliage to tidy the plant and prepare it for dormancy.
Deadheading: Regular deadheading will encourage prolonged flowering and help maintain a neat appearance.
Fertilising: Feed every 2-3 weeks during the flowering season with a high-potassium liquid fertiliser to support continuous flowering and healthy growth.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment and throughout dry periods, particularly in summer. Keep soil evenly moist but well-drained.
Pest Control: Look out for slugs and snails, especially around young shoots. Use organic control methods or barriers to prevent damage.
Disease Management: Grey mould (botrytis) may develop in humid or wet conditions. Check for soft, discoloured patches with grey spores. Remove affected growth promptly and increase airflow. Avoid overhead watering to minimise risk.
