Flowering steadily from late spring to early autumn, it adds a gentle yet vibrant touch to garden beds, containers, or cut flower arrangements. With a tidy form reaching around 40-60 cm high and wide, it fits effortlessly into cottage, contemporary, or subtropical garden settings.
Plant in full sun to partial shade, in well-draining soil that stays moderately moist. Space plants 30-40 cm apart to allow for clump development and good air circulation. Mulching is recommended to retain moisture and protect roots through the cooler seasons.
Trimming: Cut back flowering stems at the base once flowers are spent to encourage repeat flowering. In late autumn or winter, remove old or yellowing foliage to tidy the plant and promote healthy regrowth in spring.
Deadheading: Regular deadheading will extend the flowering period and help maintain a tidy appearance.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, high-potassium liquid fertiliser every 2-3 weeks during the growing season to support strong flowering and overall vigour.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist during establishment and in dry spells, especially through summer. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely.
Pest Control: Monitor for slugs and snails, particularly around young shoots. Apply appropriate control methods early to prevent damage.
Disease Management: Grey mould (botrytis) may occur in damp, poorly ventilated conditions. Look out for soft, discoloured patches with grey spores. Remove infected material immediately and improve airflow around plants. Avoid overhead watering.
