Ideal for cottage gardens, mixed borders, or patio pots. Thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers fertile, well-draining soil. Water regularly during the growing season and mulch in winter to protect the roots. Space plants 30–40 cm apart for a full, lush display.
Reaches a mature height of 30–40 cm and spreads approximately 30 cm, offering compact, soft-coloured blooms that brighten any garden or outdoor setting.
Trimming: Remove spent stems at the base after flowering to encourage continuous growth. In late autumn or early spring, cut back old foliage to make way for new shoots.
Deadheading: Regularly remove faded flowers to prolong the flowering season and prevent seed formation.
Fertilising: Apply a high-potassium fertiliser every two weeks during the flowering season to support blooms. A slow-release fertiliser in spring can also promote healthy growth.
Watering: Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during dry periods. Avoid waterlogging by ensuring good drainage.
Pest Control: Look out for slugs, snails, and aphids, which may attack the plant. Use organic pellets or insecticidal soap to manage infestations.
Disease Management: Alstroemeria is prone to root rot and botrytis (grey mould) in poorly drained or humid conditions. Ensure well-drained soil and good air circulation, and remove any affected foliage promptly.
