Alchemilla Thriller

Alchemilla mollis Thriller is a vibrant and robust variety of Lady’s Mantle, prized for its larger scalloped leaves and abundant lime-green flowers. The soft, velvety foliage beautifully catches raindrops, while the airy flower sprays create a light, natural effect in borders or flower arrangements. Flowering from late spring to mid-summer, this hardy perennial adds a refreshing burst of colour and texture to any garden.

Perfect for cottage gardens, informal borders, or woodland edges, it thrives in full sun to partial shade with moist, well-draining soil. Space plants 30–45 cm apart to allow for their clump-forming habit. Flowers provide subtle beauty during late spring and summer months.

Grows to a mature height of 40–50 cm and spreads 45–60 cm, forming a graceful mound that softens garden edges or complements mixed plantings

Trimming: Cut back old or damaged foliage in early spring to allow fresh growth. After flowering, trim back the entire plant to encourage a tidy appearance and a possible second flush of flowers.

Deadheading: Regular deadheading during the flowering period can prolong flowering and prevent unwanted self-seeding.

Fertilising: Apply a light dressing of compost or a balanced fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth and flowering.

Watering: Alchemilla prefers consistently moist but well-drained soil. Water during dry spells, especially when newly planted or in sandy soils.

Pest Control: Generally pest-resistant, though slugs and snails may occasionally target young plants. Use barriers or organic pellets to manage infestations.

Disease Management: Alchemilla is usually disease-free but may develop powdery mildew in dry conditions. Ensure good air circulation and water at the base to reduce the risk. Remove and dispose of affected foliage promptly.
