Prumnopitys ferruginea, commonly known as Miro, is a medium to large evergreen tree native to New Zealand. This tree is known for its attractive, dark green, fern-like foliage and its ability to thrive in a variety of habitats, from coastal to montane forests. Miro produces small, inconspicuous flowers followed by bright red, fleshy seed cones, which are a favourite food of the native kererū, aiding in seed dispersal.
