Metrosideros perforata

Metrosideros perforata, also known as White Rātā, is an evergreen native New Zealand plant that can function as a root climber or a compact shrub. Known for its masses of white flowers that appear in mid-summer, it's a magnet for bees and other pollinators. The small, glossy, oval-shaped leaves present a light green colour, adding to its appeal. It is commonly found in coastal areas, demonstrating its ability to grow on a variety of surfaces such as trees, rocks and cliffs, and to thrive in harsh coastal environments with high winds and salt spray.

With its masses of white flowers and glossy green leaves, it fits well in both modern and traditional garden designs. This variety thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soil. As a woody climber, Metrosideros perforata can grow up to 10 metres in height.
