Hebe odora - End of Crop

Hebe odora is a brilliant native shrub with dark-green, box-like foliage and racemes of white flowers over the summer months. Prefers well-drained soils but in cooler areas is more tolerant of damp conditions. Frost hardy. Eventual height 70cm x 60cm wide. Plant in full sun, can be trimmed back to maintain a neat shape. Makes for a great looking hedge.

Trimming: Lightly trim Hebe Odora after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage new growth. Avoid hard pruning as this can damage the plant.

Deadheading: Remove spent flower spikes to promote further flowering and maintain a tidy appearance.

Fertilising: Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring. An additional feed in late summer can help sustain vigorous growth.

Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase, ensuring the soil remains moist but not waterlogged. Once established, water during prolonged dry spells, particularly in summer.

Pest Control: Check for common pests such as aphids and spider mites. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Disease Management: Monitor for signs of powdery mildew and root rot. Ensure good air circulation and avoid overhead watering to prevent powdery mildew. Provide well-draining soil to avoid root rot and remove any affected parts of the plant. Use fungicides if necessary, following the product instructions.
