Ficinia nodosa

Ficinea nodosa, also known as Knobby Club-rush, is a robust, evergreen perennial grass-like plant with cylindrical, dark green stems that create a striking architectural presence in the garden. This plant produces small, inconspicuous flowers on the upper parts of its stems, adding a subtle texture. Ficinea nodosa is particularly well-suited for coastal gardens, wetlands, and areas prone to erosion due to its extensive root system, which helps stabilize the soil. It is an excellent choice for adding vertical interest and texture to contemporary, coastal, and naturalistic garden styles.

Thriving in full sun to partial shade, Ficinea nodosa prefers moist to wet soils but can tolerate periods of dryness once established. It is ideal for planting around ponds, in rain gardens, or along water features. For best results, space plants about 50-60 cm apart to allow room for growth and air circulation. At maturity, Ficinea nodosa reaches a height of approximately 1-1.5 metres, forming dense clumps that provide year-round interest. Its tall, slender stems sway gracefully in the breeze, creating a dynamic and elegant feature in any landscape.
