Nandina Lemon and Lime
Notify MeNandina Lemon and Lime is a striking variety of heavenly bamboo with lush, lemon-coloured leaves which fade to lime-green as it ages. Grows to a maximum of 1m x 1m. Adds colour to darker spaces in the garden and can be used as a compact and informal border. Low maintenance. Evergreen.
Trimming: Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain the desired shape and size. Remove any dead or damaged branches to promote healthy growth.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring to support vibrant foliage. An additional feeding in mid-summer can enhance growth if needed.
Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase. Once established, Nandina Lemon Lime is moderately drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during prolonged dry periods. Ensure the soil is well-draining to prevent root rot.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free, but monitor for scale insects and aphids. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil if necessary.
Disease Management: Watch for signs of leaf spot and root rot. Leaf spot appears as dark spots on the foliage and can be treated with appropriate fungicides. Ensure good air circulation and avoid waterlogging to reduce the risk of root rot. Remove any infected leaves to prevent the spread of disease.
