Ficus Black Knight

Ficus Black Knight, a striking variety of the Rubber Tree, is known for its deep green, glossy leaves with a subtle burgundy hue on the stems and leaf undersides. Its bold, almost black foliage and vibrant red leaf buds make it a popular choice for adding drama and elegance to indoor spaces. This fast-growing, medium-sized plant not only looks stunning but is also great at improving air quality, making it as functional as it is beautiful.

Thriving in bright, indirect light, Ficus Black Knight can adapt to low-light conditions and tolerates occasional direct sunlight, though hot afternoon rays should be avoided. It prefers a well-draining potting medium and requires watering once the soil has partially dried out. Regular fertilising with a liquid plant feed during the growing season promotes healthy growth, while occasional pruning helps maintain its size and encourages branching.

At maturity, Ficus Black Knight grows to a manageable height of around 1.5–2 metres, with a compact yet bushy spread of 60–90 cm. Its glossy, near-black foliage and stately form make it a standout addition to modern interiors.
