Lomandra Pom Pom

Lomandra Pom Pom is a compact, tufted perennial grass with fine, lime-green foliage forming neat, spherical clumps. This low-maintenance plant offers a tidy, sculptural appearance year-round, with subtle yellow flower spikes emerging from the base in late Spring to early Summer. Its dense growth and rounded form make it an excellent choice for mass planting or as a feature in mixed borders.

Ideal for contemporary landscapes, coastal gardens, and low-maintenance urban designs. Lomandra Pom Pom works well in massed plantings, edging paths, or punctuating rockeries with its clean form.

Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Prefers well-drained soils with moderate moisture but is tolerant of dry conditions once established. Space plants approximately 40–50cm apart to allow for their natural mound shape.

Forms a tidy, rounded clump approximately 40cm high and 40cm wide.

Trimming: Lightly trim older foliage in early spring to maintain its compact, rounded shape. Remove any damaged or discoloured leaves as needed throughout the year.
Deadheading: Not required, as this variety is mainly grown for its foliage and has inconspicuous flowers.
Fertilising: Apply a slow-release fertiliser in early spring to promote healthy growth. A light top-up mid-summer may benefit plants in poor soils.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment (first 6–8 weeks). Once established, it is drought-tolerant but will benefit from occasional deep watering during extended dry spells.
Pest Control: Generally pest-resistant, though watch for chewing insects like grasshoppers. Use a natural insecticide if infestations occur.
Disease Management: Very low susceptibility to disease. Ensure good air circulation and avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. Remove any affected foliage promptly.
