Hemerocallis Dark Eyed Magic

Hemerocallis Dark Eyed Magic is a striking, clump-forming perennial known for its large, creamy-yellow flowers featuring a deep burgundy eye and matching picotee edge. Flowering from late spring through summer, it produces a succession of blooms that bring bold contrast and warmth to the garden.

Ideal for cottage, perennial, and low-maintenance gardens, Hemerocallis Dark Eyed Magic is perfect for borders, mass planting, or mixed perennial beds. It thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers free-draining soil. Drought-tolerant once established. Space approximately 40 to 60 cm apart for best coverage.

Forms a neat clump reaching around 60 to 70 cm high and 40 to 50 cm wide.

Trimming: Remove spent flower stalks at the base once flowering has finished to keep the plant tidy and promote further flowering. In late autumn or winter, cut back old foliage to ground level to allow for fresh spring growth.

Deadheading: Recommended. Remove individual spent flowers daily during the flowering season to improve appearance and encourage continued flowering.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in early spring. For best results, follow up with a liquid feed every 4 to 6 weeks during the growing season to support strong flowering and healthy foliage.

Watering: Water regularly while the plant is establishing and during dry periods. Hemerocallis prefer consistently moist, well-drained soil. Mulching will help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Pest Control: Generally low maintenance, but watch for slugs, snails and aphids. Use bait or traps for slugs and snails, and treat aphids with insecticidal soap or neem oil if needed.

Disease Management: Leaf streak and rust may appear in humid conditions. Remove affected leaves, avoid overhead watering and maintain good airflow. Clear away dead foliage in autumn to prevent fungal problems the following season.
