Chionochloa rigida

Chionochloa rigida, commonly known as Narrow Leaved Snow Tussock, is a New Zealand native. This hardy grass creates a captivating visual display, especially when the leaves sway in the wind with its upright form and tawny-green, narrow, rigid leaves. In summer it features tall, arching flower spikes with feathery, cream-coloured plumes. It is low-maintenance, drought-tolerant plant and thrives in both coastal and inland settings. Performs best in full sun and well-drained soil. With a typical height and spread of about 1.5m, Chionochloa rigida is an excellent choice for adding vertical interest, particularly when mass-planted.
