Carex Bronze Delight
Notify MeCarex Bronze Delight is a hardy, clump-forming ornamental grass with fine, arching foliage in rich bronze tones. It adds year-round texture and colour contrast to mixed borders, rock gardens, and modern or coastal garden styles. Small, inconspicuous flower spikes may appear in spring.
Plant in full sun to partial shade with free-draining soil. Tolerates drought, wind, and light frost once established. Trim back old foliage in late winter to refresh growth. Space plants 30 to 40 centimetres apart for groundcover or mass planting.
Reaches approximately 30 to 40 centimetres tall and wide.
Trimming: Trim back old or tired foliage in late winter or early spring to refresh the plant and encourage new growth. Light grooming through the year helps maintain a tidy appearance.
Deadheading: Not required, as the seed heads are subtle and often left in place for ornamental value.
Fertilising: Apply a slow-release fertiliser in early spring. No additional feeding is usually necessary unless grown in particularly poor soil.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, it is relatively low maintenance but benefits from occasional watering during prolonged dry spells, particularly in warmer months.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free. Monitor for aphids or mites in dry, stressed conditions and treat with insecticidal soap if necessary.
Disease Management: Rarely affected by disease. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot, and remove any dead or discoloured foliage to maintain plant health and airflow.
