Agapanthus Peter Pan
Agapanthus Peter Pan is a compact, evergreen variety known for its clusters of soft sky-blue flowers held on short stems during summer. Its neat, strap-like green foliage forms a tidy clump, making it an excellent choice for borders, edging, or container planting. The smaller size and delicate flowers make Peter Pan ideal for adding subtle colour to small gardens or mixed plantings.
Thriving in full sun and well-drained soils, this low-maintenance variety is well-suited to modern, cottage, or coastal garden styles. It is drought-tolerant once established. Space plants 20–30 cm apart for a dense and compact display.
Mature size: Grows up to 40–50 cm in height and width, forming a neat, clumping habit.
Trimming: Cut back foliage in late autumn or winter once it has died back naturally. Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves during the growing season to maintain a tidy appearance.
Deadheading: Remove spent flower stems after flowering to encourage further blooms and prevent self-seeding, especially if managing invasive tendencies.
Fertilising: Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth and flowering. Avoid over-fertilising, as this can reduce flower production.
Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase and dry periods. Established Agapanthus are drought-tolerant but will benefit from occasional deep watering during hot weather.
Pest Control: Check for slugs, snails, and mealybugs. Remove pests manually or use suitable deterrents.
Disease Management: Agapanthus are generally disease-resistant but may develop root rot in poorly draining soil. Ensure soil is well-draining and avoid overwatering.
