Acorus Mini Green
Notify MeAcorus gramineus Mini Green is a compact, semi-evergreen perennial with fine, grass-like foliage in a rich, deep green hue. Its neat, clump-forming habit and lush colour make it an excellent choice for adding texture and greenery to moist areas. Though primarily grown for its foliage, it may occasionally produce small, greenish flower spikes in Summer. This hardy, low-maintenance plant thrives in wet conditions and is ideal for year-round interest.
Perfect for pond edges, rain gardens, or as ground cover in damp areas. It is also well-suited for containers, rockeries, or shaded borders. Thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers consistently moist to wet soils, tolerating shallow water planting if needed. Space plants 15–20 cm apart for a dense, uniform effect.
Reaches a mature height of 10–15 cm with a spread of 15–20 cm, forming a tidy, compact clump.
- Trimming: Remove dead or damaged foliage in late winter or early spring to keep the plant looking fresh. For variegated varieties, trim back any entirely green shoots to preserve the variegation.
- Fertilising: Acorus thrives in moist, nutrient-rich soil and rarely requires fertilisation. If needed, apply a balanced fertiliser in spring to support growth.
- Watering: Ensure consistent moisture, especially for water garden or bog plantings. Keep the soil wet or waterlogged for best results. Avoid letting the soil dry out.
- Pest Control: Generally pest-free, but occasionally slugs may feed on foliage. Use slug deterrents if necessary.
- Disease Management: Disease issues are rare. Ensure good water quality and avoid stagnant conditions to prevent fungal or bacterial problems.
