Pomegranate Nana
Pomegranate Nana is a compact, deciduous shrub with a rounded form and glossy, oblong foliage. From late Spring, it produces vivid orange-red flowers that stand out against the green leaves, followed by small, brownish-red ornamental fruit. While not as sweet or large as standard pomegranates, the fruit adds charm and seasonal interest.
Perfect for smaller gardens, edible landscapes, or containers, it suits Mediterranean, dry-climate, and courtyard garden styles. Plant in a warm, sheltered spot with full sun. Tolerates most soil types but performs best in heavier, fertile soils. Ensure consistent moisture from late Summer through Autumn during the fruiting period. Lightly prune to shape and promote fresh growth; fertilise in Spring for best results.

Trimming: Lightly prune in late winter or early spring to maintain its rounded shape and encourage fresh, vigorous growth. Remove any dead or twiggy wood.
Deadheading: Not necessary, as the plant naturally progresses from flowering to fruiting without intervention.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced fertiliser in early spring to support flowering and fruit development. A second feed in mid-summer can be beneficial for overall vigour.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist during establishment. From late summer through autumn, maintain regular watering to support fruit formation—avoid letting the soil dry out completely during this period.
Pest Control: Generally pest-resistant, but watch for aphids or whitefly on new growth. Treat with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil if needed.
Disease Management: Ensure good air circulation and avoid overhead watering to prevent fungal issues such as leaf spot. Root rot can occur in poorly drained soils, so maintain free-draining conditions and avoid overwatering.
