Thrives in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil and consistent moisture. Requires a compatible mid- to late-season pollinator such as Fuji or Golden Delicious for best fruiting.
Mature size: Grows 3–4 metres high and wide as a standard tree, or more compact when grown on dwarfing rootstock.
Trimming: Prune in late winter while dormant to create an open, well-structured canopy. Remove dead, diseased, or inward-growing branches to improve airflow and light exposure, which helps fruit ripen evenly and reduces disease risk.
Deadheading: Not required for apple trees.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced fertiliser in early spring to support vigorous growth and fruit production. Mulch annually with compost or well-rotted manure, keeping it clear of the trunk to prevent rot.
Watering: Water deeply during dry periods, especially while fruit is developing. Newly planted trees require consistent moisture until well established.
