Quercus Robur Fastigiata is a lovely variant of the classic English Oak, often called the Cypress Oak, characterised by its tall, slender, columnar structure and bright, lobed green leaves that turn golden in autumn.
It grows best in well-drained, fertile soils but can survive in a wide range of soil conditions. It prefers full sun, but can also thrive in light shade. It is exceptionally resilient, withstanding severe winters, urban pollution, and general diseases and pests.
The Cypress Oak is a wonderful choice for adding vertical interest or screening in gardens with limited area because to its upright growth and very small width. Its year-round beauty and magnificent form make it an ideal specimen or parkland tree. It can also be utilised to create massive hedge rows or windbreaks in larger landscapes.
When fully mature, the Cypress Oak can reach a height of 15-20 metres. However, because of its slower growth rate, it can be trimmed and kept at a lesser size if necessary.
Field-grown plants are grown directly in open fields, enabling their roots to spread and develop naturally, resulting in larger size, established root systems, and increased resilience. When transporting these plants, hessian, a coarse fabric made from natural fibres like jute, is commonly used to wrap their roots, providing protection during transportation and handling.
