Picea abies - Field-Grown

Picea Abies, commonly known as the Norway Spruce, is a magnificent evergreen conifer that is distinguished by its deep green, needle-like foliage and a classically elegant, pyramidal form. As it matures, it produces reddish-brown cones which contrast beautifully with the deep green foliage.

It thrives in a variety of well-drained soil types. It prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade. This hardy tree can withstand cold temperatures, making it an excellent choice for locations with harsh winters. It also shows good resistance to pests and diseases.

The Norway Spruce's classic conical shape and impressive size make it an outstanding specimen tree. It's an excellent choice for windbreaks and privacy screens due to its dense foliage. During the holiday season, it's often used as a traditional Christmas tree.

Picea Abies can reach an impressive height of 20-30 metres at maturity. Its relatively slow growth rate allows for easy management of its height and form, depending on your garden's size and design needs.

Field-grown plants are grown directly in open fields, enabling their roots to spread and develop naturally, resulting in larger size, established root systems, and increased resilience. When transporting these plants, hessian, a coarse fabric made from natural fibres like jute, is commonly used to wrap their roots, providing protection during transportation and handling.
