Lagerstroemia Bergerac (Crepe Myrtle) is a small compact tree. It grows with a rounded head and smooth bark. The foliage is lime-green in spring which ages and darkens through to summer and then turns a vibrant red with yellow and orange tones through autumn. This tree is known for its vibrant pink, large conical panicles of crimped flowers during summer. For optimum growth these trees need to be planted in full sunlight in a rich soiled area, they will withstand droughts once established but when growing they need to be well watered and a well drained soil.
Field-grown plants are grown directly in open fields, enabling their roots to spread and develop naturally, resulting in larger size, established root systems, and increased resilience. When transporting these plants, hessian, a coarse fabric made from natural fibres like jute, is commonly used to wrap their roots, providing protection during transportation and handling.
