Cornus alba Sibirica - Field Grown

Cornus alba Sibirica is a stunning deciduous shrub known for its vibrant red stems and attractive foliage. This dogwood variety is highly prized for its striking winter colour and year-round interest.

Cornus alba Sibirica is an excellent choice for adding colour and texture to your garden. Its bright red stems are particularly eye-catching in the winter months when the leaves have fallen, making it ideal for winter gardens, mixed borders, and as a striking focal point. The green leaves turn an attractive red-purple in autumn, adding to its seasonal appeal.

This dogwood thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained, moist soil. It is a hardy plant, tolerant of various soil types, including clay. Regular pruning is recommended to encourage new growth, which produces the most vibrant stem colour. Space plants about 1.5-2 metres apart to accommodate its mature size, typically reaching 2-3 metres in height and width.

In the garden, Cornus alba Sibirica is best planted where its colourful stems can be appreciated, such as along pathways or against a backdrop of evergreen shrubs. It is also suitable for wildlife gardens, providing food and shelter for birds. The small white flowers in late spring, followed by clusters of white berries, add to its ornamental value.
