Picea abies, more commonly known as Norway spruce, is a species of evergreen coniferous tree native to Northern and Central Europe. It has a fast growth rate and a tall, narrow cone shape with a pyramidal form, making it a popular choice for ornamental purposes, Christmas trees, and timber. The tree boasts dense, dark green needle-like foliage and produces cones that measure 10-15cm long. Norway spruce wood is strong and light, making it ideal for construction, paper production, and fuel. This species can grow to a height of 60-70m in optimal conditions, although it can vary between 20-30m depending on the growing environment and cultural practices. It is adaptable to a variety of soils and climates and is able to withstand cold temperatures.
