Cupressus Torulosa

Cupressus torulosa, commonly known as Himalayan Cypress or Blue Form, is prized for its tall, slender, conical shape and dense blue-green foliage. The bark is reddish-brown and peels off in thin strips, adding to the tree’s unique appearance.

Cupressus torulosa is an excellent choice for use as a specimen tree, windbreak, or screen. Its tall and narrow form makes it suitable for formal and informal garden styles, including Mediterranean, contemporary, and traditional landscapes. This cypress thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained soils, tolerating a range of soil types as long as they are not waterlogged. It is drought-tolerant once established and resistant to frost, making it a hardy option for various climates.

Cupressus torulosa grows best when spaced appropriately to allow for its mature size. Planting at least 3m apart will ensure that each tree has enough space to develop its full, conical form. This tree is relatively low-maintenance, requiring minimal pruning to maintain its shape.

At maturity, Cupressus torulosa can reach a height of 15m with a spread of about 4m.
