Alstroemeria Princess Lily Louise

Alstroemeria Princess Lily is a compact, long-flowering perennial known for its vibrant, trumpet-shaped flowers in a variety of rich colours, often accented with delicate streaks. Part of the Princess Lily series, this variety is bred for continuous flowering from late spring through to autumn. With its bushy habit and lush green foliage, it is perfect for adding lasting colour to garden beds, borders, and containers.

Uses and Garden Styles
Ideal for cottage gardens, mixed borders, and patio containers, Alstroemeria Princess Lily brings vibrant colour and texture to any setting. Its sturdy stems and long-lasting flowers also make it an excellent choice for cut flower arrangements.

Preferred Conditions
Thrives in full sun to partial shade with well-draining, fertile soil. Keep soil evenly moist but avoid waterlogging. Space plants approximately 30 cm apart for optimal growth and airflow.

Mature Size
Grows to a compact height of 25–35 cm with a similar spread, forming a dense, floriferous clump.

Trimming: Cut back spent stems to encourage fresh growth. In late winter or early spring, remove any dead or damaged foliage. For continuous flowering, gently pull rather than cut stems at the base.

Deadheading: Regularly remove spent flowers to prolong flowering and maintain plant vigour.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring and again in mid-summer. A liquid feed high in potassium (such as tomato fertiliser) can encourage better flowering.

Watering: Keep soil consistently moist, especially during dry spells and the plant’s establishment period. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot.

Pest Control: Watch for aphids and slugs, particularly in spring. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil for aphids and organic slug control methods as needed.

Disease Management: Alstroemeria can be prone to botrytis (grey mould) in humid conditions. Ensure good air circulation and remove affected leaves promptly. Avoid overhead watering to reduce fungal risks.
