Vitis coignetiae

Broad, lobed foliage which is glossy and green with a rust under felt. In autumn a spectacular change takes place and the leaves become a riot of amber, orange, scarlet, crimson and purple. The insignificant summer flowers are followed by inedible small fruit. Deciduous. This climber will support itself with tendrils that will cling to most surfaces. It is vigorous and will cover a large area quite quickly so give it some space to show how lovely it can be. Likes a hot summer, good drainage and soil that is not too heavy.
