Escallonia Field Scarlet is a vibrant and hardy evergreen shrub known for its glossy green leaves and abundant clusters of bright scarlet-red flowers. This variety of Escallonia is particularly valued for its long flowering period, which can last from early summer through to autumn, providing a continuous display of vivid colour in the garden.

In the garden, Escallonia Field Scarlet is ideal for use as a flowering hedge, screen, or as part of a mixed border. Its compact and bushy habit, along with the striking red flowers, makes it an excellent choice for adding colour and structure. It suits a variety of garden styles, including coastal, cottage, and formal gardens, where its showy flowers can be appreciated.

Field Scarlet prefers full sun to partial shade and thrives in well-drained soil. It is relatively drought-tolerant once established and can cope with coastal conditions, including salt spray and windy sites. For hedge planting or to achieve a dense, flowering display, plants should be spaced about 60cm apart.
