Gardenia Variegata

Gardenia Variegata, commonly known as Variegated Gardenia, is known for its glossy green leaves edged with creamy white margins, creating a striking contrast. The plant produces the classic, highly fragrant, white gardenia flowers from late spring through summer.

In the garden, Gardenia Variegata can be used as a specimen plant, in mixed borders, or as part of a fragrant garden. It is also well-suited for container planting, allowing its beauty and fragrance to be enjoyed up close on patios and balconies. This gardenia thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers rich, well-drained, acidic soil. It benefits from a sheltered location to protect it from strong winds and frost, which can damage the delicate flowers.

To maintain its health and encourage prolific flowering, Gardenia Variegata requires regular watering and feeding with an acidic fertiliser. Pruning after flowering helps to maintain the plant’s shape and remove any faded or brown flowers. 

Typically reaches a height and spread of 1-1.5m.
