Notify MeAzalea Chaffinch is a vibrant evergreen azalea celebrated for its bright coral-pink flowers that open with salmon and apricot tones, gradually fading to soft pink with age. Flowering in mid to late Spring, its trumpet-shaped blooms create a cheerful, eye-catching display above deep green foliage.
Perfect for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or container plantings, Chaffinch thrives in part shade with moist, well-drained, acidic soil. It benefits from regular watering during dry periods and shelter from harsh afternoon sun. Space 70–90cm apart to allow for healthy growth and airflow.

Trimming: Lightly prune just after flowering to maintain shape and remove any dead or straggly growth. Avoid hard pruning, as azaleas flower on old wood.
Deadheading: Remove spent flowers by hand to tidy the plant and encourage better flowering the following season.
Fertilising: Use an acid-loving plant fertiliser in early spring and again after flowering. Avoid overfeeding, as this can damage roots.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist, especially during establishment and dry periods. Azaleas prefer cool, moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Mulch annually to retain moisture and regulate temperature.
Pest Control: Watch for lace bugs, thrips, and spider mites—especially in warm, dry weather. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil.
Disease Management: Susceptible to petal blight and root rot. Remove affected flowers or foliage promptly, and ensure good drainage and airflow. Avoid overhead watering to help prevent fungal issues.
