Aucuba crotonoides loves the shade and its bright and interesting foliage makes it a great choice for a dark shady spot on your property. It works well on the shady side of your house or amongst a woodland spot with tree canopy. The foliage is the feature of this plant but it does have a purple flower in spring followed by a bright-red berry. It prefers the shade, but you can get it growing in a sunnier spot too. While you can keep it at any desired size very easily with a pair of snips, if let to go it will get to an eventual height of 1.5-2m and a similar width.
