Acmadenia Starblush
Notify MeAcmadenia ‘Starblush’ is a compact, evergreen shrub admired for its fine, aromatic green foliage and profusion of dainty, star-shaped pink flowers. Flowering throughout much of the year, with peak flowering in Spring and Summer, the flowers feature a darker pink blush at the centre, adding charm and vibrancy to the garden. This neat and tidy shrub is both low-maintenance and highly ornamental.
Perfect for cottage gardens, rockeries, or as a border plant in sunny, well-drained areas. It is also well-suited to coastal and Mediterranean-style gardens. Thrives in full sun and prefers sandy, acidic to neutral soils with good drainage. Acmadenia ‘Starblush’ is drought-tolerant once established but benefits from occasional watering during extended dry periods. Space plants 50–60 cm apart for compact groupings.

- Trimming: Lightly trim after flowering to maintain a neat, compact shape and encourage further growth. Remove any dead or damaged branches as needed.
- Fertilising: Feed with a low-phosphorus fertiliser formulated for native plants in spring. Avoid over-fertilising, as Acmadenia prefers lean soils.
- Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase. Once established, it prefers well-drained soil and requires only occasional watering during dry periods.
- Pest Control: Generally pest-free, but inspect for signs of sap-sucking insects like aphids. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap if necessary.
- Disease Management: This plant is largely disease-resistant. Ensure good air circulation and avoid waterlogging to minimise the risk of root rot or fungal issues.
