Populus yunnanensis, commonly known as the Chinese or Yunnan Poplar is characterized by its broad canopy and large, deep-green leaves that persist well into the autumn season. This variety is resistant to rust and serves as an appealing, rapidly growing tree suitable for providing shade, acting as a specimen tree, or serving as a shelter. It is unappetizing to possums, making it less prone to damage. The foliage of the Chinese Poplar contains a high amount of zinc, which can aid in controlling facial eczema in sheep. It is the most tolerant poplar species when it comes to dry sites. Deciduous. Hardy. Height after five years is 6m, height at maturity is 25m.
