Bergenia cordifolia Snowtime is a striking evergreen perennial with lush, rounded foliage and dainty white flowers. The glossy, heart-shaped leaves form a dense clump of rich green that turns to reddish-bronze tones in cooler months, providing year-round interest. In late winter to early spring, Snowtime produces clusters of delicate white flowers on sturdy stems, offering a refreshing display that brightens shaded areas and heralds the start of the growing season. Hardy and low-maintenance.

Perfect for mass planting, edging paths, or filling gaps in shaded borders. Its compact size and evergreen nature make it ideal for underplanting trees or shrubs, and it thrives in woodland gardens or contemporary designs. The crisp white flowers pair beautifully with other shade-loving plants like ferns, hostas, and hellebores. It is also an excellent choice for container planting, where its seasonal changes can be appreciated up close. Thrives in partial to full shade, though it can tolerate morning sun. It prefers moist, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter.

Space plants 30–40 cm apart to allow them to form a dense, ground-covering clump while maintaining airflow to prevent disease. At maturity, reaches a height of 30–40 cm, with a similar spread.

Trimming: Remove old, damaged, or yellowing leaves in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh growth and maintain a tidy appearance.
Deadheading: Cut back spent flower spikes after flowering to keep the plant neat and prevent self-seeding.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring to support vigorous growth and flowering. Avoid excessive fertilisation to prevent overly lush foliage.
Watering: Water deeply during dry spells, especially in the first year after planting. Established plants are moderately drought-tolerant but perform best with occasional watering in dry periods.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free but monitor for slugs and snails, which can damage the leaves. Use organic deterrents or hand-pick if necessary.
Disease Management: Remove and dispose of any affected foliage promptly to prevent fungal diseases such as leaf spot or powdery mildew. Ensure good air circulation around the plant and avoid waterlogging.
This compact Bergenia produces elegant white flowers in early spring and thrives in partially shaded borders or as ground cover, offering year-round interest with its glossy, evergreen foliage.
